Multicultural Melbourne Has Become Even More Diverse

The 2021 census data for Australia confirmed it to be a multicultural, migrant country. The data also revealed that the migration patterns of the country are changing.  

During the post-war decades, migration from Mediterranean countries was the highest. Now, significant migration is from South and South-East Asia. 

According to Australia Immigration Professionals, over 1 million people have found their way into the country since 2017.

The A1 Bakery is a key entity showcasing Melbourne and Australia’s diversity as a whole. The bakery on Sydney Road is a cultural icon of Melbourne. This 30-year-old bakery is owned by three Lebanese brothers whose parents moved to Australia from Lebanon in search of greener pastures.

The bakery manager, Haikal Raji, who grew up in Coburg in Germany, explained how he has watched the Melbourne community transform over the decades.

Due to Australia’s multiculturalism, the Kumar family came to the country with other Indian immigrants a few years ago. Mr. Kumar explained that Australia has better opportunities for his family. Thus, they didn’t hesitate to move to Australia.
